Girls Latin Academy Apartments

Dorchester, Massachusetts

 

The intent of this project is the adaptation of the vacant gym/auditorium wing of the former Girl’s Latin Academy in Dorchester, MA, into multi–family housing. The gym (located on the lower level) and the auditorium (located on the upper level) have approximately 25ft ceiling heights. This allowed the addition of a floor for the existing level within the existing shell. The four floor levels yielded a total of 35 two-bedroom dwelling units. Due to intended floor restructuring, new window openings were required at the exterior load–bearing masonry walls. The additional dwelling units required the addition of a two–story parking garage adjacent to the gym/auditorium building.
