Salvation Army Exterior / Interior Renovation: Phase 1
Framingham, Massachusetts
The Salvation Army Corps - Framingham, MA secured the design and planning services of The Arch Professional Group (APG) to provide a Phase 1 Interior/Exterior Renovation proposal to the early 20th century building in order to bring new life to the underutilized community gymnasium and to respond to the current revitalization of downtown Framingham.
APG proposed a gymnasium floor finish material, 1st floor foyer and basement renovation; exterior masonry repointing/replacement and existing exterior window condition assessment with their moisture control/masonry consultant (Thompson and Lichtner Co.); and a structural engineering assessment of the proposed locations for renovation. APG recommended and provided a Building Code Review and Analysis thorough their Consultant (R.W. Sullivan) to serve as a platform and reference in developing an overall interior redesign in Phase 2. To address the clients renewed commitment to restore and repair the failing exterior masonry, APG submitted several exterior facade design and cost options. Proposed new second story punched window openings will allow light to penetrate into the gymnasium space and bring aesthetic balance to the elevations; a new curtain wall glazing system; metal sunscreens; wall mounted post and banners and several locations for digital advertising and community bulletins.
